Run Around Ireland

Run Around Ireland Week 1 March 22nd -March 26th

All classes in the school have participated in the Run Around Ireland Challenge.

Junior Infants
Ms Martin’s Class have run to the Cliffs of Moher, The Aran Islands and are almost at Kylemore Abbey.  They broke for the border! Ms Murphy’s class have aimed high and scaled the highest peak in Ireland, Carrauntoohil.  An amazing 198km covered in 5 days! Ms Stack’s under the watchful eye of Ms O’Donoghue have covered 132 km.  They are putting these kms towards a run to Malin Head which they hope to complete in the week after Easter.
Senior Infants    
Ms McMahon, Ms Kelly and Ms Howley have organised a military operation and strided 194km, 192km and 192km respectively.  They headed south and reached the Blarney Stone.  Talks will be held to decide where they will head North, East or West with their surplus kms, perhaps Malin Head or The Giant’s Causeway!

First Classes

Mrs Murphy’s class have run to the Cliffs of Moher and are using their remaining 51.04km to put towards their next destination which is The Spire in Dublin.

Ms O’Sullivan’s class ran 67km in total.  They ran to the Cliffs of Moher and are still deciding what their next destination will be.

Mr Vaughan’s class ran 115 km this week.  They have reached the Cliffs of Moher and are on route to The Giant’s Causeway!

Second Classes
Mr Flanagan’s class ran a total of 130 km. They reached Blarney Castle in Cork. Mr Hickey’s class clocked up 124 km, they are currently just north of Blarney Castle, unfortunately the hailstone showers are impeding their progress.

Ms McAndrew’s class made the century (100 km).  Next stop Blarney Castle!

Third Classes
Ms Walshe’s class have reached The Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands with a total of 90 km in 4 days.  They are now planning their next destination. Ms Harding’s class have 105 km covered.  They are putting them towards a run to Newgrange in County Meath.

Mr O’Loughlin’s class have also covered 105 km.  They are hoping to reach Kilkenny Castle in April.  Up the Cats!

Fourth Classes
Ms Kelly’s class ran 281 km and reached 3 destinations – The Cliffs of Moher, The Aran Islands and Blarney Castle.  They plan to explore outside Munster in April.

Ms McMahon’s class headed North West and reached The Cliffs of Moher and The Aran Islands – an amazing 115 km covered.

Mr Walsh’s class have run 88 km to reach Loop Head Lighthouse.  They hope to leave the county next week.

Sunshine Classes Reading Class
Ms Fitzgerald’s class have blazed a trail to the Cliffs of Moher and are currently discussing training schedules for reaching Newgrange in Meath!

Mr Griffin’s class joined the other second classes for their runs.  They decided to support their own county first by reaching The Cliffs of Moher.

Mr Dwyer’s class have covered 35.2km this week.  They are just outside Lahinch!

Sixth Classes    
Mr Walsh’s class have covered 379.4km this week.  Destinations reached were The Cliffs of Moher, Kilkenny Castle and The Aran Islands

Mr Corry’s class covered 362km.  They have reached Newgrange, The Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands.  They can jog on water!

Mr McInerney’s class have covered 231km in 4 days.  They have reached The Cliffs of Moher, The Aran Islands, Kylemore Abbey and the Rock of Cashel.

Ms Roseingrave’s class have clocked up 82km and are building a raft to row to the Aran Islands.  Don’t let those yoga mats and towels deceive you!
Fifth Classes
Their progress in the Run Around Ireland is currently TOP SECRET!
