Crafty Christmas Tree Success!
Ms. Harding’s invitation to our school community to submit knitted or crocheted squares to form a patchwork Christmas tree got a wonderful response. A huge variety of squares arrived – from simple green squares to ornate and decorative squares. Ms. Harding crocheted all the squares together (a mammoth task!) and constructed a frame from piping and hula hoops.
Our tree was entered in the Festival of Trees at St. Columba’s church in Bindon St. The three 3rd classes visited there to see the tree in position. They were given hot chocolate and enjoyed a great singsong of Christmas carols with the inimitable Mr. Nigel Bridge accompanying them on piano.
The best news of all came during the Christmas holidays when it was revealed on Clare FM that our crafty Christmas tree had won top prize in the Festival of Trees. Huge thanks to all who contributed squares for the tree and well done to Ms. Harding for all her inspirational craft work.
