Band performs at Seinn na nÓg ?

Last night members of our school band took part in the collaborative primary school event “Seinn na nÓg” in Ennis cathedral. There were a number of Clare schools involved including Scoil Chríost Rí, Ennis CBS, Holy Family senior school and  Barefield NS among others. A number of adult musicians also took part including singer Edel Vaughan, sister of our own 5th class teacher Mr. Vaughan.

Our musicians performed on harp, tin whistle, fiddle/violin, guitar, ukulele, accordian, concertina, and trumpet. Rhythms were provided by Mr. Gary Walsh on djembe and cajon.

Our dancers Emily and Olivia danced a slip jig in front of the altar to The Butterfly tune, watched closely by Bishop Fintan.

All the schools had been rehearsing the Seinn na nÒg tunes and songs for months. It was lovely to finally play them last night and listen to the magnificent sound we make when we all play together!
