Parents’ Association Meeting March 5th 2020



DATE OF MEETING: Thursday 5th March 2020 @20.00 in the Staff Room

  • Events
    • Wear Green to School Day – fundraiser for the PA.
      • Date confirmed Thursday 12th March
      • €2 per family
      • Communicated on Facebook and by SMS
      • School on a half day – reminder sent out
      • Agreed that money raised will be collected by the school on behalf of the PA


  • Confirmation Reception – PA hosts reception after Mass (now cancelled)
    • Date confirmed Friday 13th
    • BOM and school to decide if Confirmation Reception will go ahead due to Coronavirus. **Reception now cancelled **
    • DVD option discussed – decided not to go ahead due to a very tight deadline and two parents independent of the PA organised it last year.
    • Siblings of Confirmation students ok to miss school and not to be marked as absent for the day. This to be communicated by the school to teachers.


  • Bingo Night – School event. PA to assist.
    • Date confirmed – Thursday 26th March
    • Hall set up – Children will bring their tables to the halla, volunteers required from 2.30pm to set room. It was agreed that “V” shaped rows are a better fit than individual tables.
    • Suggested we get sponsors for each round @ €50 – €70 each to cover most of the cost of Bingo event team.
    • Doors open at 6.30pm, first game starts at 7.00pm sharp – Bingo event team will be there at 6.15pm.
    • Sound system required on the night – School to action.
    • Books & markers provided by Bingo event team – No action.
    • Minutes from 29th April 2019 suggested that the PA members fed back from parents that it was an expensive night out. Cost of books reduced as a result:
      • €8.00 for full book
      • €5.00 for half book
      • Raffle tickets on the night- 1 sheet for €2.00 or 3 for €5.00
    • PA to provide well stocked tuc shop. PA members identified to supply stock, set up halla and help on the night.
    • Float at the door – organised by school –School to action.
    • Float for tuc shop – organised by PA – Treasurer to action.
    • Tea & coffee available on the night €1.00
    • PA to gather sport prizes asking the school community for those by SMS & Facebook – actioned.
    • Agreed that all donors and sponsors are noted/recorded in order to express our gratitude during the event.
    • A list of sponsors available on the tables and to be thanked on the night – PA member identified to action.
      • 12 to 15 spot prizes for Line prizes (Easter Eggs, homework passes, wines etc.)
      • 8 to 10 larger prizes value €25 to €30 other spot prizes (hampers, dinner vouchers, etc.)


  • Fun Day – No date confirmed yet. Suggested it is a Friday to get more volunteers as it might be easier to take time off work.


  • 6th Class Hoodies – In progress. 5 sizes provided and tried on the pupils but might have to be re-done after the Confirmation.



Other Business


Coronavirus – Pupils requested to bring their own hand sanitizers by the school in communication sent about Coronavirus Awareness. Parents concerned about request as there were out of stock in shops and pharmacies.


  • It was confirmed by a staff member that teachers took time to share videos with pupils on how to wash their hands and remind them of appropriate hygiene etiquette.
