                    Minutes of meeting held 11th June 2018

 

 

  1. Review of minutes of last meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting were proposed and seconded.

 

 

  1. Appointment of Acting Principal ENS

Brian Troy is to be appointed the Acting Principal of ENS during Ray McInerneys secondment to Clare Education Centre for an initial period of one year.

 

  1. Hoodies

All students have the hoodies they ordered.

 

  1. Health Promotion Week

John Burke visited on Monday.  His visit was a big success. He met with all classes in the school and students found his talk very engaging and were very excited to hear about his amazing achievement.

 

John Eustace held a taster class of Jiu Jitsu and will continue this into Tuesday

 

Kelvin Harold who is a nutritionist with the Clare Senior Hurlers gave a talk to the 4th, 5th & 6th classes about good nutrition and how important it is for your body.

 

On Tuesday there are Yoga classes held by Eimear McCarthy for the students.

 

Also on Tuesday Chef Rachel Culligan will demonstrate how to make healthy tasty snack.

 

On Wednesday there is the organised school cycle. 6 parents have volunteered.  80/90 children will be participating.

 

Thursday is Irish culture day.

 

  1. Fun Day 15th of June

Friday is Fun Day.

 

Volunteers so far for each time slot are

9am-11am – 29 volunteers

11am-1pm – 26 volunteers

1pm-3pm – 18 volunteers

 

  1. Garda Vetting

A reminder to all PA members to please send off their forms.

 

  1. Walking Bus

There are 5 parent volunteers at the moment on the walking bus.  From September 3 are stepping down.  More volunteers are needed.

 

  1. 6th Class Graduation 28th of June

Volunteers are need for the night of the graduation and setup earlier in the afternoon.

 

  1. After schools directory

 

The directory is to be rolled out in September.

 

  1. Murals at the entrance to the school

 

It was highlighted to the PA that the murals at the entrance to the school could do with a refresh.

 

  1. AOB

 

Tea & coffee reception to be organised for Junior Infants parents on the first day of school – 30th August.

 

Projects down the line were discussed such as Astro Turf for the school, the development of the school garden and playground equipment for the school.

 

Next meeting in the new school year.
