Roy Lichtenstein
Roy Lichtenstein was an American artist who was born in New York City in 1923. When he was a child, he loved drawing, painting, and visiting museums. He enjoyed looking at pictures and learning how artists showed stories and emotions in their work.
When Roy grew up, he studied art in college and later became an art teacher. While teaching, he began to think about new and exciting ways to make art that people would notice and talk about.
Roy became famous in the 1960s for making paintings that looked like comic book pictures. He used bright colours, thick black lines, and tiny dots to create his images. His artwork often showed people talking, surprised faces, and dramatic moments, just like in comics.
He believed that everyday things, like cartoons and advertisements, could be real art. This made people see the world around them in a new way.
Roy Lichtenstein continued to make art for the rest of his life and became one of the most famous artists of the Pop Art movement. He died in 1997, but his bold and playful artwork is still loved and displayed in museums all over the world today.
