From Seed to Soup

Ms. Harding’s 3rd Class had a very special harvest this week! The vegetables they collected from the school garden were originally planted from seeds and carefully nurtured by last year’s class. This year’s pupils were delighted to reap the rewards of all that hard work!

The children harvested, prepared and cleaned the fresh vegetables before working together to make a hearty, delicious vegetable soup.

But the garden treats didn’t stop there! The class also picked rhubarb from the garden and used it to make a scrumptious rhubarb tart.

It was a wonderful hands-on learning experience — connecting gardening, sustainability, teamwork, cooking and healthy eating from seed to plate.

A big thank you to last year’s class for planting the seeds and getting the garden growing. This year’s class certainly enjoyed the benefits of their green-fingered efforts!
