First Communion

Today, Saturday 9th May 2026, our Second Classes celebrated the Sacrament of First Holy Communion in Ennis Cathedral at 11am.

On a beautiful day, a packed Cathedral witnessed our pupils receive the sacrament. The ceremony opened with the first verse of a beautiful hymn, performed by a group of Second Class pupils gathered at the altar, before the choir joined in from the gallery above.

All of our pupils participated meaningfully in the ceremony, which was led by Fr Joy and Fr Jibin of Ennis Parish.

The choir was amazing and they enhanced the ceremony throughout. The warmth of the many compliments paid to them afterwards was a testament to the hard work that went into their preparation. Sincere thanks to Ennis NS staff members Anne McMahon, Naomi McMahon and Lisa Fannin for their dedication in preparing and directing the choir, and to their colleague Denis Molony, who was the organist.

A heartfelt thank you to our Second Class staff team who prepared the children so thoughtfully for this special day: Ken Hickey, Sean Flanagan, Eimear Martin and Annette O’Dwyer.

Following the ceremony, a reception was hosted in the school hall for the children and their families. Thank you to everyone who donated food and treats, and a very special thanks to the parent volunteers who prepared the hall beforehand, hosted the reception on the day and tidied up afterwards. We are very fortunate to have such an active and generous Parents Association.

Congratulations to all of our First Communion children and their families on this wonderful occasion.
