Ennis National School Takes Center Stage in European Climate Action Project
Ennis National School is proud to be a participant in the PROTECT Erasmus+ project, an initiative aiming at empowering pupils to tackle the effects of climate change within their own communities. This October, Ennis NS played a role in hosting the inaugural PROTECT Learning, Teaching & Training Event, welcoming PROTECT Project participants from across Europe to Clare.
The week-long event, held at the Clare Education Centre, focused on innovative teaching and learning methodologies that engage pupils in climate action. Our involvement extended beyond hosting, with Mr. McInerney, Project Co-ordinator from Ennis National School, introducing the aims and structure of the PROTECT project, emphasising our commitment to pupil-led initiatives and cross-European collaboration.
A highlight of the week was a special event held at the Clare County Council Chamber. Ennis NS students joined their peers from Clarecastle National School and Knockanean National School to present videos showcasing their perspectives on climate change. Our pupils delivered insightful presentations, sharing their concerns and ideas for a sustainable future with the assembled delegates.
The PROTECT project is a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to develop their understanding of climate change and become active agents of change. By collaborating with schools across Europe and working with local partners, we are empowering our students to make a real difference in their communities and beyond.
