 The Green School Energy Project

As part of our Energy Awareness campaign, we have been making a big effort to conserve and reduce our energy usage both in school and at home.

We conducted an Energy Review of the school to examine our electricity and fuel usage and to see where we can make energy savings. Vinnie Blake from Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) helped us by conducting an energy review of the school and he gave us recommendations of where we can reduce our energy use.

The Green Schools Energy committee put together an  action plan    to tackle areas where we could improve our energy consumption within the school and also to raise awareness and ensure full participation from the entire school community in the Green-schools energy programme.

Each class completed energy projects though internet research, experiments, and art work. We also had an energy art competition in the school. We had great fun learning about all the different types of energy and how we can conserve energy both at school and at home!

We also held an Energy Fair at the end of January, where we invited companies from the energy sector to exhibit in the school hall. The fair was a resounding success!
