During the year the first class children participate in a wide range of activities including the following:
IT
All three first class have access to an interactive whiteboard technology and are timetabled for weekly use of the computer room. Children also have access to a classroom computer for additional educational support.
Drama
In addition to the curricular drama lessons children take part in our annual Christmas play entitled ‘Ralph The Reindeer’. This is a very beneficial experience for the children as they get the opportunity to perform a variety of songs and poems in front of family and friends.
Feile na hInse – children have the chance to participate in an Irish drama competition. All are welcome to take part.
Junior Achievement
Junior Achievement is a six week program. It teaches children about how they as individuals can influence society. The course is delivered by local trained business people.
Library
Each year first class children visit the library on numerous occasions. Our aim is to foster a love of reading.
Sport
Children get the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports ex basketball, football, tag rugby, gymnastics, dance etc.
Every second Thursday a local GAA coach comes to teach hurling skills to all children. In the second term, cross country running is offered at lunchtime for interested pupils. The training sessions conclude with cross trials to pick teams for the interschool cross country running championships.
The highlight of the school year for first class students is the school sports day. This event is structured to facilitate both participation and competition.
School Tour
Each June the first class children go to Lahinch on their school tour. Activities include swimming, visit to Seaworld, a trip to play area followed by a picnic. Last year a great day was had by all and we look forward to returning to Lahinch next year.
Trip to the Local market
Every Friday a local market is held in Ennis. On occasion the first class children get the opportunity to visit the local market to see what is on offer.
Art Competitions
The first class children have the opportunities to submit entries for the following art competitions-

Texaco Art
Tidy Towns Art
Arts Festival
Health Information Day
In addition to these activities children will have the opportunity to visit the Texaco Art winners in Glor in March.
Green Schools
Representatives from each class attend Green School meetings and give feedback on the latest events. The school took great pride in winning its second green flag for energy last year.
